Design system refresh at Signal Sciences.
My time at SigSci has allowed me to wear multiple hats: illustrator, UI designer, and product designer. I’ve been the lead UX designer on three product teams, developed a new illustration system, worked cross functionally with sales/product to improve customer onboarding, and helped refresh our design system.

Became a manager.
In my tenure at GoDaddy, we acquired a WordPress management company, ManageWP. As a result of the acquisition and product integration efforts I started managing two designers in Belgrade, Serbia. Managing two employees in a timezone nine hours ahead of your own was not without its challenges, but I had an incredibly talented team.

Ran a Design Sprint.
My manager and I teamed up, planned, and executed a Google Ventures Design Sprint with key leaders on my team. We had to adjust the schedule to be able to run it in a shortened timeframe, but overall the sprint was a huge success and helped us plan our product roadmap for 2017.

Featured presenter at Tech Fest.
At GoDaddy's internal technical conference, my talk "Design Fundamentals for Developers" was aimed at teaching engineers the basics of information architecture, the psychology behind whitespace and line length, and the importance of visual design. The goal of the talk was to empower engineers to understand the background of design decisions.

Spoke at Grace Hopper.
GoDaddy's CEO Blake Irving reached out to me and asked me to share my story on stage in front of all of the students attending. So, I spoke for five minutes in front of 8,000 people at the Grace Hopper Conference for women in computer science.
“What truly makes Julie exceptional is not just her user empathy or her design talent, it’s her ability to partner and collaborate with others across different disciplines and different tiers in any organization, to ask the right questions and to get the best out of everyone she works with.”

Started working at GoDaddy.
I started working at GoDaddy as a Product Designer. I chose GoDaddy because I was inspired by the CEO, Blake Irving. He wanted to bridge the gender gap in tech, and I wanted in. It was as simple as that.
